Mauritius 2018

we’ve just arrived back from Mauritius, and I feel so refreshed and ready for the next few months… then I need a holiday again ( Mauritian holiday that is)

Every year my folks take the whole family (13 of us) to Mauritius for two weeks, my sisters and I are all scattered across the country, one in Cape Town, one in Jbay and I’m in Durban, so it’s their way of getting us all together and it’s now become a tradition in our family- couldn’t ask for a better tradition right?! Anyway, it’s literally taken me two days to write about our little getaway, it’s been full blast ‘go’ since the day we got back, Aron started second term of school, Ryan is working late at night, and I’m exhausted- I need a holiday ha ha.

We stay at the same resort every year , Troux au Biches” such a stunning resort, most beautiful beach and best pools for the kids. We rent the same family villa, it’s just perfect with its own private little pool, and feels like home away from home… I think the boys were the perfect age to enjoy this trip, and will just get even better every time we go. Aron taught himself how to swim… under water and all? Proudest mama ever right here- I literally cried, no swim training whatsoever, and we just couldn’t get him out the pool or ocean. Ashley just followed his brother and did whatever he was doing, ( his hero) I just loved seeing how my boys are growing closer together every single day, don’t get me wrong, we have many fights- but when they love they really love each other.

We didn’t leave the resort much, we’ve toured most of the island in the previous years we’ve been there, and to be honest, cruising around in a tour bus all day is not the kids idea of “fun” so this time we spent most our days lounging by the pool, taking the kids out on the boats to see the coral and fish, and did long walks along the beach while drinking fresh coconuts. We also had our 4 year anniversary to celebrate, so my sisters and my mom took the kids for the day and Ryan and I went off to explore, we had lunch at the most amazing little restaurant hanging over the ocean called “La pescatore” honestly the most Devine food on the whole island. So after two weeks of pure bliss, we are home and while it’s always great to be home, I really do miss the island life, I find myself dreaming about our next little adventure. Here are some info on our hotel and some images from our holiday.

Traveling around island; it’s super cheap to take the local bus, taxis are more expensive as they are booked through hotels.

on the last day of our stay, I received a DM on instagram from @ubermauritius offering to drive us around, so sad we missed that but will definitely use them next time.
